Buffalo Tempeh Bites

March 15, 2015

100% my favorite way to eat Tempeh. Organic tempeh is an excellent alternative source of protein and a great source of fiber and iron. This buffalo tempeh is so delicious you could even convert a real wing eater!

  • Yields: 2-3 Servings

8 oz. Tempeh (I use Lightlife Organic Flaxseed Tempeh)

1/2 tbsp Coconut Oil

2 tbsp Wing Sauce (I used Wing Time Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce-- Link at the bottom)

Cut tempeh into approximately 1" pieces. I usually can get 24 pieces out of one 8-oz piece of tempeh.

Melt 1/2 Tbsp Coconut Oil in a large frying pan. Add tempeh to pan and cook all sides of the pieces until golden. (It can be kind of a pain, but I use a fork and flip each piece individually to ensure all sides are golden.)

Once all sides have cooked, put tempeh in a medium bowl and pour 2 Tbsp wing sauce on top and toss tempeh until evenly coated.

Serve and ENJOY!

*To get the real "wing" experience, serve with some celery and carrot sticks and I like to use Greek yogurt as a healthy alternative to Blue Cheese or Ranch dressing. You could also try it with cashew sour cream for a fully vegan version.
